HIGHLANDERS chief executive Denzel Mnkandla says the club is in constant communication with its principal sponsor as efforts continue to resolve a salary and bonus impasse that has led to players downing tools ahead of their blockbuster clash against Dynamos.

The stand-off, which reportedly began over unpaid salaries and outstanding bonuses, continued on Friday at White City Stadium, where players gathered but did not train or change into their training gear.

Mnkandla, speaking to Television Sports Media, described the situation as unfortunate, saying it is not only affecting the playing squad but the entire club structure.

“It’s not only affecting the players, it’s also affecting the secretariat. We want to make sure that the boys get motivated ahead of this Dynamos match,” he said.

He added that talks are on-going with key stakeholders in a bid to resolve the financial issues and restore normalcy within the camp.

Club officials are hoping a breakthrough can be reached soon to ensure the team returns to full training and focus shifts back to football ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
